Nalchik is a balneological mud resort of great value in Russia. Terek is the Town of Diamond Workers
Terek is young as a town, but it is ancient as a settlement – it was 200 years in 2006. The settlement was founded in 1875-1876 when the Vladikavkaz railway was built where Murtazovo station was set up with a tiny settlement of the same name. Gradually the station became surrounded by apartment houses, various institutions and private utility buildings.
The town of Terek today is one of the largest regional centers of the Kabardino-Balkarian republic. Terek has the advanced agriculture and industry. The population of the town makes up 20255 people, the area is 8700 hectares. The largest enterprise of the town is Terekalmaz Company due to which apartment houses and kindergartens, health centers and sport complexes are being built.
